Nearly 50 law enforcement agencies from across Indiana will partner with Special Olympics Indiana and Dunkin’ stores on Friday, May 15 for Cop on a Rooftop.
Visitors to participating Dunkin’ stores can donate money and learn more about their local Special Olympics Indiana program. Police and safety officers will be stationed in, around and on top of the stores between 5 a.m. to noon to help support and raise awareness for the 20,000 Hoosier athletes who train and compete for free within Special Olympics, according to a provided news release.
Individuals who donate to Cop on a Rooftop receive a coupon for a free donut. Those who donate $10 or more receive a coupon for a free medium hot coffee.
To date, Cop on a Rooftop events have raised more than $125,000 for Special Olympics Indiana.
Officers from the Warsaw Police Department will be participating at the Dunkin’ Donuts at 2234 E. Center St.
Special Olympics Indiana is a nonprofit organization that is part of the global Special Olympics movement, created by the Joseph P. Kennedy Jr. Foundation for the benefit of persons with intellectual disabilities. Its vision is an inclusive world, driven by the power of sport, through which people with intellectual disabilities live active, healthy and fulfilling lives, the release states.
