Constitutional Amendment

Posted
Editor, Times-Union:
The following is the fourth part of my explanation for section three of my proposed constitutional amendment for furthering strengthening religious liberty, the free market of religious choice and maintaining the independence of the institutions of church and state from each other both here and abroad.
I will pick up where I left off from the third part of my explanation in my Jan. 5 letter to the editor, which was getting ready to list the other 10 types of infringement. Due to the size and format of the original text plus the word limit for letters to the editor, I have broken it down into a more readable format.
Section 3: Prohibitions on Specific Types of Infringement
Nor shall such aforementioned entities as a matter of policy or practice during peacetime or war subject the people domestic or foreign whether as a whole, by category, or as individuals to such horrendous and oppressive acts as the following because of their beliefs or disbelief ... (four additional reasons-elimination of competition, mass regimentation, revolutionary goals, or an end unto itself for such “horrendous and oppressive acts” were printed in my Nov. 23 letter to the editor)
Infringements two through 11
2. “nor acts of forced conversion by subtle, abrupt, or overt means to any form of theism, mysticism or atheism”
3. “undue intrusion into the internal affairs of one’s congregation, denomination or faith”
4. “the extraction and provision of involuntary aid and/or attendance of any sort by direct or indirect means to religious establishments for the purpose of founding, sustaining, or reviving them or their houses of worship, schools, activities or agendas, propagating their particular faith to others, or otherwise relieving their membership of the obligation of tithing to support such establishments and activities.”
5. “compulsory adherence in public or private to sectarian laws, tenets and decrees.”
6. “the sanctioning and support of religious cartels, publicly owned and operated churches, mandatory civic faith(s)”
7. “the centralized macro-management of the religious sphere of society by appointed or elected governing bodies.”
8. “the elevation of domestic or foreign religious communities into parallel government or sovereign or semi-autonomous statelets within or outside one’s borders.”
9. “the creation, garnering and utilization of preferential rights, policies, treatment or status for one’s congregation, denomination, or faith at the exclusion of other communities of belief.”
10. “the de jure or de facto merging of the inherent forms and functions of the institutions of church and state until one institution becomes or is in the process of becoming an organ or mere appendage of the other or both become an indistinguishable whole.”
11. “and the incremental or outright establishment of an all-encompassing universal state church/state religion or militant state atheism as the unrivaled collective faith for all in one’s own community, state, nation, continent or world.”
