Community Invited To Participate In Prescription Drug Take Back Disposal Event

Community members are encouraged to safely dispose of expired, unused and unwanted prescription medications during the upcoming Prescription Drug Take Back Disposal Event on Saturday.
This free and anonymous event is part of the DEA’s 30th National Prescription Drug Take Back Day, which will be held at nearly 4,200 locations nationwide, according to a news release from the Kosciusko Coalition on Drug Education.
The event offers a safe, convenient way for residents to remove potentially dangerous medications from their homes and help prevent prescription drug misuse, theft, and accidental poisoning. Since 2010, National Prescription Drug Take Back Day has removed more than 20 million pounds of unwanted medications from communities across the United States.
“Too often, unused medications remain in home medicine cabinets where they can be misused or accidentally ingested,” said Heidi Blake, KCODE coordinator. “The prescription drug drop-off boxes give our community a simple, safe, and responsible way to dispose of medications and protect families in Kosciusko County.”
Residents can utilize prescription drug drop-off boxes permanently placed in locations throughout Kosciusko County. KCODE manages the Kosciusko County Prescription Drug Drop-Off Box initiative in partnership with 525 Foundation, Claypool Police Department, Kosciusko County Coroner’s Office, Kosciusko County Prosecuting Attorney’s Office, Kosciusko County Sheriff’s Office, Mentone Police Department, Milford Police Department, Pierceton Police Department, Silver Lake Police Department, Syracuse Police Department, Warsaw Police Department, and Winona Lake Police Department.
Gather unused, unwanted or expired medications from your home and dispose of at any of these drop box locations in Kosciusko County.
