WINONA LAKE – The community is invited to sign up and join Vocal Vision for the upcoming performance season.
The Vocal Vision choral ensemble of men and women from the community shares a love for music through singing in harmony, according to a provided news release from the Community Arts Program (CAP). Members include men and women from the community and graduates of Vocal Vision Youth. They strive to bring quality choral music to Warsaw and Winona Lake and the surrounding communities of Kosciusko County. Interested singers can register online at www.capwarsaw.com/vocal-vision.
This year’s performances include their annual gala, “Java, Jive and Pie: The Village Canteen” in October, “Salute to Veterans” fundraiser performance for Honor Flight and a free performance at Warsaw Public Library in November, “Christmas in the Village: Americana Christmas” in December, a winter fundraiser, “Show Tunes Showcase” featuring Vocal Vision Youth in February, and their conclusion of the season with their spring concert, “Celebrate and Sing: Sounds of Earth” in April.
The Community Arts Program launches the season with the “Java, Jive and Pie: The Village Canteen” fundraising gala on Oct. 24 at 7 p.m. at Rodeheaver Auditorium. Come dressed in period 1940s attire, if you so choose, and bring your dancing shoes as CAP features period music with the Wally Brath jazz band. Join them at 6 p.m. as dance instructors Matt and Cindy Smith from Art of Dance teach a free beginner lesson and also grace the dance floor.
Two events will feature Vocal Vision Youth and Vocal Vibes in November. The first program is the “Salute to Veterans” to raise funds for Honor Flight of Northeast Indiana, on Nov. 7 at 2 p.m. at First Baptist Church in Warsaw. This concert, hosted by Chain-O-Lakes Barbershop Chorus, will feature moving patriotic performances by Vocal Vision Youth, Vocal Vibes, Chain Gang Barbershop Quartet and the Chain-O-Lakes Barbershop Chorus. The concert is free to attend, and free-will donations will be gathered to salute veterans and support Honor Flight.
Then on Nov. 30 at 6:30 p.m., come to the Warsaw Community Public Library for a fun-filled program featuring Vocal Vision Youth and Vocal Vibes as they share an hour-long performance of Christmas music, stories and sing-alongs. This free concert will showcase the talent of their young musicians and the vocal jazz ensemble.
“Christmas in the Village: An Americana Christmas” — Celebrate the magic of the season featuring two enchanting performances: Saturday, Dec. 5 at 7:30 p.m., and Sunday, Dec. 6 at 4 p.m. “Celebrate the nostalgia and true meaning of the season”, says Dr. Ardis Faber, “with storytelling and choral music by American composers.” Join them as guest narrator Dr. Leanne Wood tells the story.
Vocal Vision Youth will be featured in their mid-winter fundraiser in February. Shake the winter doldrums at their “Show Tunes Showcase.” The Show Tunes Showcase will be a high-energy, family-friendly musical theater performance featuring Vocal Vision Youth students, the release states. This dinner-theater style event will combine dinner, entertainment and community engagement to support the continued growth and accessibility of CAP programming. The Showcase will be held at Warsaw Evangelical Presbyterian Church at 6 p.m. Feb. 27.
The final program of the season occurs on Saturday, April 17 at 7:30 p.m. at Rodeheaver Auditorium. Let your imagination take flight this spring, celebrating a shared connection with creation and one another through choral music inspired by nature and cultures from around the world.
The Community Arts Program welcomes singers of all backgrounds to join them for part or all of their upcoming season. Whether you're a seasoned performer or simply love to sing, there’s a place for your voice in their ensemble, the release states. They are especially seeking male voices to enrich their sound and be part of exciting performances ahead.
