Commissioners Proclaim May As Motorcycle Safety Awareness MonthWith the warm weather and sunny skies, motorcycles will be more common on America’s streets, roads and highways.
On Tuesday, the county commissioners approved a proclamation designating May 2023 as Motorcycle Safety Awareness Month.
Jordan Clark, a representative of American Bikers Aimed Toward Education (ABATE) for Kosciusko County, explained that ABATE is a “motorcycle rights and safety charitable organization. We help with the education of current riders, old riders and new riders, all the way down to riders getting their license.”
He said ABATE offers safety classes, as well as refresher courses for some of the seasoned veterans “who might have lost some of the skills and gotten bad habits along the way.”
Every May is Motorcycle Safety Awareness Month, he said, and asked the commissioners to issue the proclamation as he presented it to them.
After Commissioner Bob Conley read the proclamation, the commissioners approved it 3-0.
