Posted

Five bids were received and opened Tuesday at the Kosciusko County Commissioners meeting for the Justice Building reconstruction.
“So, we’re going to open the bids for the Justice Building. This is the repair of the facade and soffit that was found to be damaged, and also happened to collapse way back in August of last year,” Commissioner Cary Groninger said before reading the bids.
The bids were taken under advisement for review.
The total base bid from Buckeye Construction & Restoration Ltd., Waterford, Ohio, was $1,799,708.
Total base bid from Hagerman Construction, Fort Wayne, was $1,100,900.
Wells Masonry Restoration Inc., New Palestine, gave a total base bid of $1,792,908.
The total base bid from Structural Waterproofing and Restoration LLC, Memphis, Tenn., was $698,000.
The final total base bid came from Berglund Construction Company, Chesterton, at $1,150,000.
Asked if there was an engineer’s estimate, Groninger said there was not one because of some of the specialty work required.
The next commissioners meeting is at 9 a.m. Tuesday, June 16 in the old courtroom of the county courthouse.
