SYRACUSE – Clayton Michael "Mike" Varney Jr., 51, of Colon, Mich., and formerly of Syracuse, passed away on Sunday, Oct. 18, 2020, at his home.
He was born on July 4, 1969, in Elgin, Ill., to Clayton Michael and Julia A. Radke Varney Sr.
He grew up in Illinois, attended Cambridge Academy in Illinois and lived in Syracuse for many years before he moved to Michigan three years ago. He formerly worked at Frontline Manufacturing in Warsaw, Krider Fiberglass in Ligonier, Bison Manufacturing in Milford, Lippert Components in Goshen, HRO in Wolcottville and Forest River in Goshen.
He is survived by two sons: Clayton Michael (Angie) Varney III, of Goshen; and Dylan Varney, of Cromwell; mother, Julia Varney, of Colon, Mich.; mother of his children, Tracy Varney, of Cromwell; two sisters: Angela (Larry) Hicks, of Syracuse; and Melissa (Eric) Varney, of Fort Wayne; two brothers: Willie (Michelle) Varney, of Colon, Mich.; and Gabriel Varney, of Battle Creek, Mich.; four grandchildren: Aurora, Ezra, Kason and Cameron; 14 nieces and nephews; and 15 great-nieces and -nephews.
He was preceded by his father and son, Shawn Varney.
Cremation will take place at Cremation Services of Kosciusko County, 4356 N. Ind. 15, Warsaw. No public services will be held.
Owen Family Funeral Home, 1001 S. Huntington St., Syracuse, is in charge of arrangements.
