CLAYPOOL – The Dec. 15 virtual meeting of the Claypool Town Council was brief, running just under nine minutes long.
The council went over several ordinances at the meeting. The first ordinance approved, ordinance 2020-12-1, amended ordinance 2020-11-3, which dealt with council member salary increases for the 2021.
The second ordinance passed, 2020-12-2, was a resolution that allowed a one-time paydown of accumulated vacation time. This will allow town employees to take all unused 2020 vacation time.
“The town council finds that due to unusual circumstances,” said Council President Liz Heiman, “the vacation time may be paid in full.”
The council also approved ordinance 2020-12-3, which designated which holidays the town would observe for 2021. The holidays will remain the same as in 2020.
During the report from department heads, town marshal Ben Sanders reported that the Claypool Police Department had received 155 total calls for service in November.
“I had three officers out due to COVID during November, and although they all tested negative, I only have 98 reserve hours to report for November,” said Sanders.
Council member Gene Warner stated that RTC Communication was still setting up wireless internet within the town; individuals interested in getting wireless internet through RTC at their businesses or residences should reach out to RTC.
Council members will stop by the clerk-treasurer’s office this week to sign vouchers and approved ordinances.
The council’s first meeting of 2021 will take place on Jan. 19.
