Claypool Council Issues Fireworks Reminder

Posted
CLAYPOOL – At Tuesday night’s meeting, the Claypool Town Council issued a fireworks ordinance reminder and scheduled next week’s administrative meeting.

The Council reminded the public that in the town of Claypool, fireworks are allowed from June 29 to July 9, five days prior to and following Independence Day.

Town residents should also remember to gather dead grass and other lawn trimmings in paper or other biodegradable leaf bags for street pick-up.

At next week’s administrative meeting, set for June 22 at 6:30 p.m., the Council will discuss the parameters of Operation Pull Over (OPO), a state program that enables Claypool Town Marshal Ben Sanders to assist with traffic control in Leesburg. While Sanders is paid hourly by the state, the town of Claypool is not reimbursed for the use of Sanders’s vehicle during OPO hours.

Sanders reported 160 police calls and 146 reserve hours logged for this month.

The Council’s next regular meeting will be at 7 p.m. July 20.
