Class Act Dance Troupe Competes In MichiganClass Act Dance Troupe Inc., a nonprofit performing company affiliated with Debra Collier’s School of Dance, recently competed at the CRU Dance competition in Brighton, Mich.
The troupe received multiple awards including high overall scores in four different genres.
The troupe was honored to be recognized by special judges’ awards as the recipients of the Spectacular Symmetry award for the petite ballet piece, Mystic Eve, and the Classic Choreography award for the senior jazz piece, Magic to Do, according to a news release from the dance troupe.
The announcer praised the students and choreographers for their precision and classic technique, stating, “Every time this studio takes the stage, I know I am in for a treat. They are always classy and polished,” stated the release.
At the conclusion of the three-day event, the troupe was grateful to be named the ADCC Studio of Excellence for “best exemplifying the values of the ADCC, which include working together and striving for excellence.”
“To be honest, that is the greatest honor we could have received,” said co-director Tammy Seibold. “To be recognized for the character of our students and staff is amazing.”
Two CADT members, Abigail Miller and Mackenzie Langhorn, received nominations for the CRU Heart and Soul National Company.
The Heart and Soul Company is an artistic and educational company that recognizes students not only for their dance ability but also for their integrity on and off the stage. Participants learn a routine at nationals that is performed multiple times throughout the event.
“Class Act Dance Troupe is focused on creating opportunities for our dancers. Whether they are interested in pursuing a career in the field of dance or just enjoy sharing their love of dance, we want to help them build the foundation they will need to be successful at any level,” Seibold said.
“The CRU organization has a similar vision and we appreciate the opportunities they offer our students. Their faculty is wonderful and can help students gain experience and make connections far beyond our community. To have so many of our dancers receive such recognition is exciting. It speaks to their level of commitment, talent and ability to share their love of dance with their audience. We are very proud of who they are as dancers and people. They are an extraordinary group.”
CADT will be performing throughout the community this summer, working with Baker Youth Club, the Animal Welfare League and the Warsaw Parks and Recreation Department, as well as other area organizations.
