Warsaw’s Classic Rock Concert will feature Night Ranger, a high-profile band from the 1980s best known for the song, “Sister Christian.”
Warsaw Parks and Recreation Department also announced on WRSW radio this morning that Jerrod Niemann will be the main entertainment at the annual country concert set for July 20.
Both concerts are free at and at the Glover Pavilion in Central Park.
The “Rockin For Riley” rock show will be June 15 and begins at 6:30 p.m. with a local band that will be selected as a result of “Star Search” contest organized by WRSW.
Night Ranger is expected to start their show at 8 p.m.
Spectators are encouraged to arrive early and bring lawn chairs or a blanket.
Vendors will be available. Coolers are permitted, but no alcohol or pets are allowed in the park at any time.
Night Ranger’s appearance is part of the band’s 35th anniversary world tour in support of a new album, “Don’t Let Up,” which was released in March.
The band has sold 17 million albums worldwide and performed more than 3,000 live shows, according to the group’s website.
In addition to “Sister Christian,” their hits include “Don’t Tell Me You Love Me,” “When You Close Your Eyes,” and “(You Can Still) Rock In America.”
The Country Concert for St. Jude on July 20 will begin at 6:30 p.m. with an opening act chosen through Willie 103.5’s local Star Search.
Niemann is slated to begin his show at 8 p.m.
Niemann first gained recognition in 2010 with his major-label debut album, “Judge Jerrod & The Hung Jury,” which included a No. 1 hit, “Lover, Lover,” as well as “What Do You Want.”
Other hits by Niemann include “Shinin’ On Me” and “Only God Could Love You More.”
