Church Solicitors

Posted
Editor, Times-Union:

There was a knock on my door the other evening, and looking out my window I saw two men. Through the window, I asked what they wanted. They were from a local church and asked to come in and talk to me about what their church has to offer.

This is not the first time church solicitors have come knocking on my door. I am constantly bewildered that they continue this practice, yet it happens on a very frequent basis. Would any of them want their own grandmother to unlock her door and allow a stranger to come in? I think not.

Pastors, please have your congregations discontinue this extremely annoying, and potentially dangerous, type of solicitation.
