Mentone UMC To Celebrate Advent
MENTONE – The community is invited to Mentone United Methodist Church on Sunday, the second Sunday of Advent, for worship at 10:15 a.m. Pastor Dana Miller will present the second message of the Advent series, “The Songs of Christmas”, “Zechariah’s Song - The Benedictus.” The scripture is Luke 1:46-55.
On Saturday, Dec. 6 the church will have their Christmas garage sale and bake sale from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. or sold out. All baked goods are priced as marked. A free-will donation will be taken for Christmas garage sale items. Join them for lunch from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. Potato soup and chili along with pie is available with a free-will donation for lunch.
Join them for Feast & Fellowship on Wednesdays from 6 to 7:30 p.m. On Dec. 17, there will be a special Feast & Fellowship for all children and families; bring a friend. Celebrate the Christmas season. There will be a carry-in with mini corn dogs and macaroni and cheese furnished. Bring your favorite dish to share. Feast & Fellowship follows the Tippecanoe Valley School Corporation school calendar.
Mentone United Methodist Church, in collaboration with Hartzler Funeral Services, will hold their “Blue Christmas, a Service of Hope and Healing” Dec. 21 at 4 p.m. The service will be held at Mentone United Methodist Church. Join them if during this holiday season you are experiencing loss, loneliness or sadness, to feel less alone and find solace and hope.
All are welcome at the Mentone United Methodist Church. They offer an early bird adult Sunday school class at 9 a.m. before worship service at 10:15 a.m. They are at 116 E. Main St., Mentone. Eastway To Present Message
BURKET – Burket Bible Church welcomes everyone to its services. Sunday school starts at 9 and worship is at 10:15 a.m. The message this week by Pastor Mark Eastway is "The Lord Our Righteous Savior" from Jeremiah 23:1-6. They will celebrate Holy Communion. Gary Kuhn will provide music.
The Burket Lifewise classes are Tuesdays at 10:30 a.m. Praise practice is Tuesday at 4 p.m. There will be a bake sale at the church on Saturday afternoon at the same time of the Burket Fire Department fish fry.

SPARC Meets Today
CLAYPOOL – The sidewalk has been shoveled for the SPARC group to walk from the school to the Fellowship Hall today. They will have snacks, songs and Bible stories until 5:30 p.m.
The doors that were closed last Sunday due to ice and snow plan to open at 9:30 a.m. this Sunday. There’s Bible study for all ages. You can enjoy the Advent decorations at 10:15 a.m. in the Fellowship Hall during the snack and fellowship time. They all gather in the sanctuary for worship hour at 10:30 a.m. You can watch it on Facebook at Claypool UMC, Indiana if your unable to join them as the candle of peace will be lit and the second in the Advent wreath with scripture being read. The children have kids church while Pastor Diane Quance presents the difference between how the world defines peace and the peace God gives people.
Saturday there is a CPR certification class being conducted in the Fellowship Hall at 10 a.m. There is a small fee and it is open to anyone.
The Women of Faith will meet at noon Tuesday at Peg Shively‘s residence.
The Devotional group meets at 4:30 p.m. Wednesday; they always welcome newcomers. The Worship team has practice at 5:30 p.m. Wednesday.

Beaver Dam Community Church
To Hold Events This Week
AKRON – There's a communitywide men's Bible study group meeting on Saturday mornings at Egg Town Coffee (formerly Java Jacks) in Mentone. Men from several area churches are participating and all are welcome. Breakfast is at 8 a.m. and the study starts at 9 a.m.
Sunday is the second Sunday of Advent. Worship at Beaver Dam Community Church, 9798 W. CR 1000S, Akron, is at 9 a.m. and 10:31 a.m. with coffee refreshments served from 10 to 10:30. There will be Wheels on Fire check presentations. The Ad Board meeting and fellowship lunch are after church. The Beaver Dam Preschool Christmas program is at Akron Elementary School at 2 p.m.
On Monday, choir practice is at 6 p.m. The 4-H Club meeting is at 7 p.m.
On Wednesday, Charge Conference is at 6 p.m. The King’s Kids program is from 6 to 7:30 p.m. It is open to potty-trained 3-year-olds to fifth grade.
On Dec. 13, the youth group bake sale is at the Akron Lions Club Fish Fry from 4 p.m. until sold out. There is a Christmas party afterwards at the church until 7:30 p.m.
