Christmas In The Village: Celtic Christmas Is Dec. 6-7

WINONA LAKE – Celebrate the magic of the season with Community Arts Program featuring two performances of Christmas in the Village: “Celtic Christmas” Saturday, Dec. 6 at 7:30 p.m. and Sunday, Dec. 7 at 4 p.m.
“What a beautiful time of year,” said Artistic Director Dr. Ardis Faber, “to share holiday favorites, infused with the spirit and charm of Celtic music — plus a few delightful surprises along the way!”
This program features performances by Vocal Vision's adult choir, Vocal Vision Youth, Vocal Vibes, the Grace College Lancer Chorus and the Wagon Wheel Symphony of the Lakes, as well as a special performance by Shannon Dunne and Friends.
Shannon Dunne and Friends is an inter-generational dance community created by Dunne to present programs that preserve and explore the many facets of the sean-nós dance tradition.
“Literally meaning ‘old style’ in Irish, the style is an exciting, improvised battering style dance, characterized by a loose, playful upper body, close to the floor steps, and a strong musicality,” Shannon said. “Up until recently, sean-nós dance has been kept alive in the remote areas of Connemara Gaeltacht, passed along through family and community lines.”
Dunne shares her performance style and curriculum on stages and in education centers at a global level. The Community Arts Program is glad to have these artists display their unique form of art during their Christmas in the Village celebration, the release states.
Tickets for these performances are $15, with a discounted rate of $12 for students and senior adults. Children 5 and under are free with a paid ticket. Tickets can be purchased online at the Community Arts Program website at https://www.capwarsaw.com/event-list. Tickets will also be available at the door, and seats fill quickly.
Dunne, South Bend, is a world-renowned traditional Irish dancer and musician, specializing in dance and music styles from the West of Ireland, particularly Connemara sean-nós and set dancing. She has performed internationally at prestigious venues such as the Kennedy Center, Symphony Space (NYC) and the National Theater, as well as at renowned folk festivals including the Smithsonian Folklife Festival, Grey Fox Music Festival, and the Shetland Folk Festival.
