AKRON – Christene J. Conley Cornell, 68, of 10299 E. Ind. 14, Akron, died unexpectedly May 2, 2012, in the emergency room at Woodlawn Hospital Emergency Room, Rochester.
She was born Aug. 5, 1943, in Prestonsburg, Ky., to Fred and Myrtle Manns Conley. On April 18, 1964, in Fulton County, she married William Cornell Sr., who survives.
She worked at United Technologies, North Manchester, for 14 years until it closed. Following that she was a homemaker. She was an avid gardener and enjoyed crocheting and going fishing with her husband.
Also surviving are a daughter, Mary (and spouse Jeramy) Reese, Roann; three sons: William Jr. (and spouse Mary) Cornell, New Baltimore, Mich.; Ron (and spouse Victoria) Cornell, Pierceton; and Norman (and spouse Heidi) Cornell, North Manchester; nine grandchildren: William, Eric, Sean, Joshua, Lacey and Keaton Cornell; Braxton Hanft; and Devon and Aidan Reese; three great-grandchildren, Faylinn, Makayla and Aiyanna; five sisters: Zefie Jackson, Gracie Jackson, Martha Hancock, Lorene Tesh and Izanie Thornington; and three brothers, Amos, Norman and Alfred Conley. She was preceded in death by two sisters, Nancy Pennington and Opal Conley, and a brother, Jerry Conley.
Services will be at 2 p.m. Sunday at Hartzler Funeral Home, 305 W. Rochester St., Akron. Burial will be in Gaerte Cemetery, Macy.
