ELKHART – Cheryl L. Rider, 61, of Elkhart, passed away at 3:40 p.m.  Feb. 9, 2013, in Greencroft Healthcare, Goshen, following a yearlong battle with cancer.
She was born March 28, 1951, in Elkhart, to William Philip and Ruth Putman Miller. On Aug. 4, 1973, in Elkhart, she married Dudley W. Rider, who survives.
She graduated from Elkhart High School in 1969 and received an associate degree in business from Ball State University in 1971. She was a member and officer of EGA, a member of the Rug Hooking Club and attended and sang in the choir at Trinity United Methodist Church. She enjoyed making cards, doing needle point, quilting, sewing, weaving primitive baskets, embroidery, rug hooking, playing the piano and singing. She formerly worked as a secretary and was currently a full time grandma.
Also surviving are daughters: Kelly J. Rider (and Amanda Schelle) and Jaime L. (and spouse Jason) Stacy, all of Goshen; two grandchildren, Kara and Connor; a brother, Philip William (and spouse Vicki) Miller, Elkhart; a sister-in-law, Darlene (and spouse Steve) VanRie; three nieces: Diana De la Reza; Daniela (and spouse Preston) Martin; and Ginny VanRie; two  nephews, Terry (and spouse Wanda) McCartney and Kurt (and spouse Jeannie) VanRie; a great-nephew, Hayden Martin; a great-niece, Tammy McCartney; and her mother, Ruth Miller, Goshen. She was preceded in death by her father, William Philip Miller.
Services will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday at Trinity United Methodist Church with Pastors Mark Dicken and LeRoy Wise officiating. Entombment will be in Chapel Hill Memorial Gardens.  
Calling is from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesday at Walley-Mills-Zimmerman Funeral Home, 700 E. Jackson Blvd., Elkhart, and one hour prior to the service Wednesday at the church.
