Charlotte Klotz Matthews

PERU - Charlotte Klotz Matthews, 85, of Oswego, passed on June 10, 2010, in Indianapolis, at the residence of her son David and his wife Ellen.

She was born June 24, 1924, in Logansport, to Anthony and Mary Ethel Massett Klotz. On June 22, 1947, she married Clell Russell Matthews, who died Oct. 3, 2009.

She was a member and former officer of the Mid-Lakes Lions Club, Oswego, and a former member of the Kosciusko County Historical Society. In addition to raising her children and being a homemaker, she worked for many years at the Kosciusko County edition of The Paper.

Surviving are her children: Maurita Matthews (and spouse Dennis) Dettmer, Hazelton Pa.; David Clell Matthews (and Ellen Morley), Indianapolis; and Diane Matthews (and spouse Bob) Warford, Stilwell, Kan.; four grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by three brothers, Donald, Joseph and charles "Bud" Klotz, all of Logansport.

A memorial service will be at 2 p.m. Friday at Eikenberry-Eddy Funeral Home, 84 W. Main St., Peru, with Chaplain Bob Jarboe officiating. A burial service for both Charlotte and her husband will take place at Mt. Hope Cemetery.

Calling is one hour prior to the service Friday at the funeral home.
