MARION - Charles Edward Shepler, 82, of Marion, died at 9:05 p.m. April 26, 2010, in Marion General Hospital.
He was born Aug. 16, 1927, in Warsaw, to Harold Eugene and Edith Vanator Shepler. On Feb. 6, 1949, he married Rosemary West, who survives.
He was a World War II Navy veteran. He was a printer at the Chronicle Tribune and also owned C&S Rubber Stamps for many years. He was a member of the American Legion and the YMCA, where he was also a past member of its board of directors.
Also surviving are four sons, Stephen, Stewart (and spouse Katy), Scott (and spouse Debi) and Spencer (and spouse Erin) Shepler; a daughter, Sandra (and spouse David) Cooper; a sister, Ruth Irene Brown; grandchildren, Stewart, Sarah, Aaron Noel (and spouse Kat), Ashlae Dawn, Zachary Edward and Abigail Rosalyn Shepler; Jennifer Renee (and spouse Brad) Sexton and Heather Niccole (and spouse James) Winger; and five great-grandchildren. He was also preceded in death by three brothers, Ralph Vernon, Howard Arthur and Floyd Eugene Shepler, and three sisters, Mary Jane Shepler, Bertha Mae Boyle and Lois Almira Carlon.
Services will be at 2 p.m. Saturday at Raven-Choate Funeral Home, 1202 Kem Road, Marion, with the Rev. Tom Mansbarger officiating. Entombment will be in Gardens of Memory, Huntington County.
