Charles C. "Bob" Murphy Sr., 81, of 5391 E. Pierceton Road, Pierceton, died at 10:53 a.m. Jan. 24, 2009, in Kosciusko Community Hospital, Warsaw.
He was born Sept. 26, 1927, in Rome City, to Cletus and Nora Halsey Murphy. On June 30, 1951, in Warsaw, he married Vivian Foreman, who survives.
Living in Kosciusko County for 53 years, he was a lifetime farmer, owning Murphy and Sons Farms, Pierceton. He was a loving husband and father and was devoted to and loved by his grandchildren and great-grandchildren. He was a U.S. Army veteran, serving during the Korean War as a sergeant from 1951-52.
Also surviving are two sons, Charles C. Murphy Jr. (and companion Terrie Hall) and Rick L. (and spouse Melissa) Murphy, all of Pierceton; a brother, Roy Murphy, Coldwater, Mich.; three sisters, Anna Mae Till and Rosie McGinnis, both of Fort Wayne, and Carol Harris, LaOtto; eight grandchildren; and 13 great-grandchildren.
Services will be at noon Tuesday at McHatton-Sadler Funeral Chapel, Warsaw, with Garry Tom Sr. officiating. Burial will be in Oakwood Cemetery, Warsaw, with military rites by members of American Legion Post 49 and Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 1126.
Calling is two hours prior to the service Tuesday at the funeral home.
