Charlene Ruth Caron, of Warsaw, went to be with her Lord and Savior on Sunday, May 10, 2026, at Stillwater Hospice in Fort Wayne at the age of 67.
She was born on Aug. 6, 1958, in Rochester, N.Y., the daughter of Paul and Lillian Stear Griswold. Charlene’s life was marked by quiet strength, dedication and a passion for service.
Charlene graduated from Irondequoit High School in 1976 before pursuing higher education at Albany State University, where she earned both her undergraduate degree and a master’s in medical technology. Demonstrating her exceptional athletic abilities in her youth, Charlene was a diver in college and placed sixth in the state of New York.
Throughout her life, Charlene embraced her roles as an educator and community servant. She spent fourteen years as a homeschool teacher, nurturing the minds and spirits of her children with patience and care. Following this, she dedicated two decades to serving as a librarian at the Warsaw Library, fostering a love of reading and learning.
Charlene was deeply connected with her faith and the world around her. She was very involved in her church communities, including Winona Lake Grace Church and previously Christ Covenant Church. Her spiritual life was enriched further through her participation in Community Bible Study and Women of Grace. She generously volunteered her time at many local organizations and was a libero tracker for volleyball at Lakeland.
An accomplished clarinet player, Charlene brought music and joy through her involvement in two local bands, including the Grace Ensemble. She also found peace in knitting, crafting balls and booties for children.
In 1984, Charlene married Thomas Caron, beginning a life journey shared with love and partnership. She is survived by her husband, Thomas, of Warsaw; her children: Charles (Allie) Caron, of Minnesota; Elizabeth Caron, of Florida; Johanna (Allan) Gamayon, of the Philippines; and Naomi (Jacob) Braaten, of Minnesota; and her cherished grandchildren: Auron and Mattaniah Caron, and Shamar Gamayon.
