A Warsaw man was arrested recently after allegedly battering and strangling a woman he was living with.

Daniel Andrew Middleton, 54, of 1603 Dot St., Warsaw, was arrested and booked into the Kosciusko County Jail Feb. 9 for domestic battery, strangulation and intimidation, a misdemeanor.

His bond was set for $5,000 surety and $250 cash.

Court documents filed Friday list the counts against him as strangulation, a level 6 felony, and domestic battery, a Class A misdemeanor. His initial hearing is set for 8:15 a.m. March 1.

On Feb. 9, Warsaw Police Officer Daniel Rosenberg responded to a report of a domestic battery at Middleton’s address and found a woman whose eyeglasses were on the table twisted up, her face was flush and her lips were bleeding. The left side of her neck area was red and she complained of pain to her neck, head and throat.

The victim said she and Middleton got into an argument and he spit and slapped her in the face. He allegedly placed his hands around her throat and began choking her until she could not breathe and felt like she was going to lose consciousness.

She called 911 and was trying to ask for help when Middleton allegedly threatened to beat her up if she called police.

Rosenberg spoke with Middleton who said he and the woman were living together. They got into an argument, he said, but it never got physical.

Middleton said dogs damaged the woman’s glasses.
