Celebrate The 4th Of July In Your Hometown

With the Fourth of July in a few weeks, fireworks and events have been scheduled throughout the area starting this upcoming week.
Akron
From June 20-27, there will be a Penny-A-Vote Cute Baby contest at Lake City Bank, sponsored by Akron Las Donas. Young Entrepreneur Day is from 9 to 11 a.m. June 28 at Lake City Bank.
On June 29 at the Akron Community Center, the Penny-A-Vote Cute Baby contest winner will be announced. At 5:30 p.m. are the Miss Sparkler, Mr. Firecracker and Queen contests. At 7 p.m., the quilt raffle winner will be announced.
From 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. June 30 to July 3, Akron Carnegie Public Library will have a book sale.
From 7 to 10 a.m. July 4, there will be a Fireman Breakfast at the Henry Township Fire Station and is sponsored by the Henry Township Volunteer Fire Department. At 9 a.m., there will be flag-raising by the American Legion Honor Guard.
There is a Firecracker 5K event July 4 at Akron Elementary School. Registration is from 7 to 7:45 a.m. The 5K walk starts at 8 a.m. The 1-mile fun run starts at 8:15 a.m. The 5K run starts at 8:30 a.m.
There will be a parade starting at 11 a.m. July 4 at Rochester and Mishawaka streets. The theme is “Star, Stripes and Small-Town Pride.”
There will be a 3-on-3 basketball tournament at 9 a.m. July 4 at Pike Memorial Park. At 9 a.m., there will also be a co-ed volleyball tournament. From noon to 10 p.m., there will be food and retail vendors and free kid inflatables. From 1 to 3 p.m., there will be a petting zoo and pig races.
From 1 to 4 p.m. July 4, there will the Jim Bucher Memorial Car Show with awards given out at 3:30 p.m.
From 5 to 9 p.m. July 4 at Pike Memorial Park, there will be free laser tag and free inflatable axe throwing. From 7 to 9 p.m., there will be free kids games and Pick Slide will perform.
At 10 p.m. at Pike Memorial Park July 4, there will be fireworks sponsored by the Henry Township Volunteer Fire Department.
Chapman Lake
Chapman Lakes Conservation Association will have fireworks at 10 p.m. July 5. There will also be a Chapman Lakes Independence Day parade from 6 to 9 p.m. July 4.
Etna Green
Etna Green will hold its 4th of July fireworks at Heritage Park from 10 to 11 p.m. July 4.
There will also be a parade. Parade lineup starts at 10 a.m., and the parade kicks off at 11 a.m.
Right after the parade, there will be a festival at Heritage Park with food, games and fun for all ages.
Lake Tippecanoe
Lake Tippecanoe Property Owners will hold fireworks July 5 starting at 10:30 p.m. A flotilla will kick off at 1 p.m. July 5. The flotilla will kick off in front of Patona Bay. The boats will travel the main basin of Lake Tippecanoe parade style for approximately 1-1/2 hours.
There are two options for registration, which is required for cash awards. The first will be at the June 21 fish and chicken fry from 5 to 6:30 p.m. A second pre-registration will be at the Patona Bay Snack Bar on July 5 from 1 to 11:30 a.m.
North Manchester
North Manchester will have fireworks starting at dusk July 4 at Manchester Jr./Sr. High School The rain date is July 5.
Syracuse
Fireworks at Syracuse Lake will be on July 4 and fireworks on Wawasee Lake will be on July 5.
Webster Lake
The Webster Lake Conservation Association will hold fireworks starting at 10 p.m. July 5. The rain date is July 13.
Winona Lake/Warsaw
June 28 is the Fourth of July celebration.
At 1 p.m., vendors will be at Limitless Park. There will be a parade at 5 p.m. From 5 to 9 p.m., there will be events at Limitless Park. At 6 p.m. parade awards will be given out at Limitless Park. At 8 p.m., there will be a patriotic concert at Miller Sunset Pavilion. At 10 p.m., there will be fireworks over Winona Lake.
