Cecil Latta, 81, of Warsaw, passed away at 9:15 a.m. Dec. 21, 2011, in his residence.

He was born Jan. 23, 1930, in Warsaw, to Cecil Graham and Margaret Egan Latta. On June 13, 1959, he married Patricia Tyner, who died in 1995. On Oct. 25, 1997, he married Joyce Snyder Cain, who survives.

A lifetime resident of Warsaw, he graduated from Warsaw High School in 1949 and was a U.S. Air Force veteran, serving from 1951-54 as an Airman First Class. He worked at Zimmer Inc. in the fiber metal division, retiring in 1992.

He was a Kosciusko County Sheriff’s Dept. deputy  from 1956-59, serving under Sheriff Carl “Tuffy” Latta. He was also a shipping supervisor for Korth Furniture, Warsaw.

He was a member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church, American Legion Post 49, Knights of Columbus (4th degree) and Elks Lodge 802, all of Warsaw.

Also surviving are two nieces, Margaret (and spouse Eric) Whitley, Warsaw, and Janet (and spouse Scott) Kammerer, Leesburg; a nephew, Steve Allen, Warsaw; great-nephew; and five great-nieces. He was preceded in death by his parents; a sister, Annie Allen; and two infant brothers.

Services will be at 11 a.m. Tuesday at Sacred Heart Catholic Church, Warsaw, with Father Phil DeVolder officiating. Burial will be in Oakwood Cemetery with military honors by members of American Legion Post 49, Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 1126 and the Indiana Army National Guard.

Calling is from 4 to 8 p.m. Monday at McHatton-Sadler Funeral Chapel, 2290 Provident Court, Warsaw, with a rosary service at 7:30 p.m. and a vigil by the Knights of Columbus.
