Caucus Set To Fill Milford Council SeatA caucus has been scheduled to fill the Milford Town Council seat vacated by the resignation of JoEllen Free, and declarations of candidacy are available at the county clerk’s office.
Free resigned because she is moving out of the county and her resignation was effective May 31.
Kosciusko County Republican Central Committee Chairman Mike Ragan scheduled the caucus for 7 p.m. June 18 at the Milford Town Hall, 121 S. Main St.
Eligible members of the caucus are the Republican Precinct Committeemen of Van Buren Township who have served continuously, from 30 days before the date of the caucus. There are three Van Buren Township Precinct committeemen serving Milford who will select Free’s replacement at the caucus. They are Stephen Tucker, Van Buren 1; John Beer, Van Buren 2; and Dr. Bruce Lamb, Van Buren 3.
The Milford council member will be elected by secret ballot of the majority of members of the voting caucus to fill the vacancy in the office.
Declarations of candidacy are available at the office of Kosciusko County Clerk of the Circuit Court, 121 N. Lake St., Warsaw, and must be filed with Ragan no later than 72 hours before the commencement of the caucus.
Eligible candidates will be allowed a maximum of three minutes to address the voting caucus.
Members of the caucus, candidates, candidates families, designated caucus staff, Republican Party officials, duly appointed watchers, and members of the news media are eligible to attend the caucus.
