Due to the death of Clay Township Advisory Board member Donald Morris on July 18, a caucus will be held to fill the vacancy.
Mike Ragan, chairman of the Kosciusko County Republican Central Committee, said the caucus will be in the Claypool Lions Building, Claypool, Aug. 6 at 6 p.m.
Eligible members of the caucus, by statutory definition, are the Republican Precinct committee members who have served continuously, from 30 days prior to the date of the commencement of the caucus.
Pursuant to IC 3-13-11.5, a Republican Precinct Committeeman may designate the Republican vice precinct committee memberswho: (1) is the vice precinct Committee members for the Committee membersprecinct, and (2) has been such continuously since 30 days prior to the caucus, and (3) the Precinct Committeeman’s/woman’s designation must be filed with the Chairman at least 72 hours prior to the caucus, in order to have a Precinct Committeeman/woman vote as the Precinct Committeeman’s/woman’s proxy. A proxy may not be revoked after it is filed.
The Clay Township Trustee Advisory Board member shall be elected by secret ballot of the majority of members of the voting caucus to fill the vacancy in the office. Candidates must reside in Clay Township and be a Republican in good standing.
Declarations of candidacy are available at the office of Kosciusko County Clerk of the Circuit Court, 121 N. Lake St., Warsaw, and must be filed with Ragan no later than 72 hours prior to the commencement of the caucus.
Eligible candidates will be allowed a maximum of three minutes to address the voting caucus.
