A caucus has been called due to the Dec. 31 resignation of Harrison Township Board of Trustees member Gerald Weirick.
Kosciusko County Republican Central Committee Chair Mike Ragan announced the caucus will be at 6 p.m. Jan. 19 in the Mentone Council Chambers, 105 E. Main St., Mentone.
Candidates must reside in Harrison Township, Kosciusko County, and be a Republican in good standing.
Declarations of candidacy are available at the office of the Kosciusko County Clerk of the Circuit Court, 121 N. Lake St., Warsaw, and must be filed with Ragan no later than 72 hours prior to the start of the caucus.
Eligible candidates will be allowed a maximum of 3 minutes to address the voting caucus.
The Harrison Township Board member will be elected by secret ballot of the majority of the voting caucus to fill the vacancy.
Eligible members of the caucus are the Republican precinct committee members who have served continuously from 30 days prior to the date of the start of the caucus.
