LEESBURG – With the resignation of Leesburg Town Council at-large member Larry Richey Tuesday, Kosciusko County Republican Party Chairman Mike Ragan has announced a caucus to replace him.
The caucus will be at 7 p.m. Feb. 6 at the Leesburg fire station.
Eligible members of the caucus are the Republican Precinct Committeemen Plain 2 who have served continuously from 30 days prior to the date of the commencement of the caucus, according to a news release from Ragan.
Eligible members of the caucus, candidates, designated caucus staff, Republican party officials, duly appointed watchers and members of the news media are eligible to attend the caucus.
A councilman will be elected by secret ballot of the majority of members of the voting caucus to fill the vacancy in the office.
Declarations of candidacy are available at the office of Kosciusko County Clerk of the Circuit Court, 121 N. Lake St., Warsaw, and must be filed with Ragan, 1458 E 75 N, Warsaw, IN 46582, no later than 72 hours prior to the commencement of the caucus.
Candidates must meet residence requirements and be a Republican in good standing.
Eligible candidates will be allowed a maximum of three minutes to address the voting caucus.
