Cat Attacked

To the people of Bogg's Addition:

My sister's cat Peanut was a loveable, friendly, trusting family pet. When visitors came over, he forced them to pay attention to him, to pet and baby him. He expected love and kindness from people.

On May 4, his trust in humanity was shattered. Peanut was found in his backyard with a stick rammed all the way through his body. During his emergency surgery, he was found to have been stabbed eight times.

One may ask what kind of person could do such a thing? Yes, Peanut was outside, but he seldom left his yard. He most likely was lured away. He would have gone to almost anyone. What really shakes my faith in people is who the police and the vet think committed this heinous action. They agree it was probably a child 8 to 11 years old.

Did someone's child go home with scratches and no explanation of what happened? If you have any information about this attack, contact the police. This is a misdemeanor crime.

Serial killers usually begin with animals. It is a bit frightening to think we may be nurturing someone who may grow into worse crimes. Keep an eye on your pets, because this will happen again. The child who did this needs help. Please be aware of what is happening in our community.
