CASA Hosts Volunteer Appreciation Luncheon

CASA (Court Appointed Special Advocates) recently hosted a luncheon to honor and celebrate the dedication and commitment of its volunteers.
The event was an opportunity to express gratitude for the invaluable contributions made by volunteers who tirelessly advocate for the best interests of children in the foster care system, according to a news release from CASA.
The luncheon gathered volunteers, staff and community supporters, creating an atmosphere of camaraderie and appreciation, the release states. Attendees enjoyed a meal, conversation and speeches recognizing the impact of volunteer service.
In a highlight of the event, CASA announced the recipients of its annual volunteer awards.
Volunteer of the Year went to Mike Stewart, whose “unwavering dedication and compassion have left a lasting impact on the lives of many children. His exemplary service and leadership have set a standard of excellence within the organization,” the release states.
Rookie Volunteer of the Year went to Loranna Shilling, who has quickly distinguished herself as a passionate and effective advocate. In her short time with CASA, Shilling “has demonstrated an extraordinary commitment to the cause and an innate ability to connect with the children she serves, the release states.
