BOURBON – Carol E. “Kay” Lemler, 92, lifelong resident of Bourbon, passed away at 6:30 a.m. Jan. 27, 2014 at her residence. She was born June 15, 1921, in Bourbon to Ezra and Helen Craig Geib. On Aug. 16, 1946, she married Joe Lemler, who died Jan. 17, 1974. She was a graduate of Bourbon High School, class of 1939, and a graduate of Michiana College of Commerce at South Bend. She worked as a secretary during World War II at Kingsbury Ordinance Plant. After the war, she married her childhood sweetheart, Joe, and then worked as a secretary in Lafayette where he attended Purdue University. When the children came, she stayed home to be with her family. After Joe passed away, Carol returned to the work force. She first worked as a clerk at the Marshall County Clerk’s office, then at Orthopedic Equipment Company of Bourbon in the office until her retirement. She will always be remembered for her love of her family, grandchildren, great grandchildren, birds and the lake. Surviving are three daughters; Donna (and spouse Steve) Feldman, Bourbon; Susan Houin, Plymouth; Nancy Bricker, Union, Mich.; one son, Michael (and spouse Carolyn) Lemler, Fruitport, Mich.; four grandchildren; Brian (and spouse Marci) Feldman, Bourbon; Mark (and spouse Amanda) Feldman, Plymouth; Casie (and spouse Bryan) Hood, Panama City, Fla.; Kirk Bricker, Union, Mich.; three great-grandchildren; Hayden and Hanley Feldman and Bricksten Hood. Also preceding her in death were her parents; a daughter, Kristine Duff, who died in 2012; a son-in-law, Earl Houin, who died in 2003; and her sister, Lois Bray, who died in 2012. Services will be at noon Friday at Deaton-Clemens Funeral Home, 115 S. Main St., Bourbon, with Pastor David Gould of the Country Church officiating. Burial is in Pleasant Hill Cemetery, Bourbon.
