Editor, Times-Union:
Despite Indiana weather, the Leesburg Candelaria was a wonderful time for the whole community to celebrate the Christmas season. The event would not be possible without the support of our sponsors and MANY volunteers.
Thank you to Sue Charlton for preparing hundreds of bags; to the Leesburg neighbors, friends, and members of Leesburg Methodist Church who assembled the 1,400 luminarias; to the Leesburg Mighty Farmers 4-H Club who set up and lighted the luminarias; to Dave Morehouse (Santa Claus) and Plain Township Fire Department; to students from Leesburg Elementary who sang Christmas carols; and to all the Allen family members who helped with everything from serving the refreshments, setting out the luminarias and the Sunday morning clean up.
Special thanks to our main sponsor for the past 15 years, Maple Leaf Farms; to our friends at G & G Hauling and Everest Excavating; and to our local businesses who showed their support through their advertising. The town of Leesburg is grateful to all of you for keeping this annual tradition alive and growing. We wish all of you a happy 2026!
