ANDERSON - C. Lewis Darlington, 83, of Anderson, died Aug. 3, 2008, in St. John's Health System, after an extended illness.

He was born Feb. 10, 1925, in Anderson, to Harry and Myrtle Fellows Darlington. On Sept. 22, 1945, in Anderson, he married N. Jean Mills, who survives.

A lifetime Anderson resident, he was co-owner of Anderson Aviation Inc. for many years, retiring in 1989. He took his first solo flight in 1941. He was a designated flight examiner for the FAA for more than 30 years and had logged more than 37,000 hours in flight time.

He served in the U.S. Air Force during World War II. He was a member of Meadowbrook Baptist Church, Elks Lodge 209 and American Legion Post 127. He enjoyed boating and water skiing. He and his wife were resident of Little Tippecanoe Lake for nine years.

Also surviving are a son, David (and spouse Ann) Darlington, North Webster; a daughter, Linda (and spouse Jim) Pugsley, Mentor, Ohio; two grandsons, Jason Pugsley, Hermosa Beach, Calif., and Marc Pugsley, New York City, N.Y.; a sister, Charlotte (and spouse Fred) Richardson, Leesburg, Fla.; special friends, Ruth Ellen and John Cook, both of Anderson, and Evelyn Huntzinger, Pendelton; and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents and two brothers, Harry and Art Darlington.

Services will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday at Rozelle-Johnson Funeral Service, Anderson, with the Rev. Dennis Zirkle officiating. Burial will be in Anderson Memorial Park Cemetery.

Calling is from 4 to 7 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home.
