Burning Religion

Posted
Editor, Times-Union:

The Koran burning was cancelled before 9/11/10. Burning people's holy books always results in worldwide riots.

Remember how Christians rioted and killed people the world over when the US Army burned Bibles in Afghanistan? (Military burns unsolicited Bibles sent to Afghanistan. May 22, 2009 CNN.com) (onenewsnow.com Holy book burning sparks hypocrisy 9/9/10). You don't? That's probably because it never happened. Only in the fevered imaginations of people like Rosie O'Donnell and Travis Smiley do radical Christian terrorists murder and maraud, matching the Taliban kill for kill (see religion of peace.com for the body counts.)Pastor Terry James should have listened to Dr. Henry Jones Sr. in Indiana Jones and the Last Crusade: "Try reading books instead of burning them."

Pastor Jones should never have proposed burning the Koran. By backing down, he looks like he caved in to Moslem pressure. Moslems will be encouraged to bully others to give in to them over anything that offends them, and evidently anything non-Moslem offends them (The Amboy Times List of Things That Offend Moslems 2/12/2007).

Even Robert Spencer, founder of JihadWatch.com (usually reviled in the liberal media as a hate monger and Islamophobe) said Koran burning is wrong. On his website, Spencer has a "Quran commentary" and a book for sale: The Complete Infidel's Guide to the Koran.

Bill Warner sells easy to read translations of the Koran at his website Center for the Study of Political Islam (www.cspipublishing.com).

While mainstream media covered the proposed Koran burning, they ignore how Moslem "charities" deny aid to people of other faiths (yidwithalid.blogspot.com/2010/09/wheres_outrage_christian_pakistanis.html). What's worse, burning books or starving people?

We need to know our enemy. Eyebrows were raised in the movie "Patton" when it was discovering the general read Erwin Rommel's book on tank warfare. Later Patton gloated, after defeating Romme's Panzers, "I read your book."
