Buck Prejudice

Editor, Times-Union:

In regard to Buck Young's Anti-Semitism "Top 10" in April 8 Times-Union, I can't believe he can be so blatantly racist, and proud of it.

Does he know that there truly is anti-Semitism, even in this day and age? His own hate-filled rhetoric is proof of the existence. If he would bother to check history, not just World War II, but the history of the treatment of Jews on American soil, he would see much prejudice against their race. America, along with every country in the world, is guilty of prejudice and racism at some point in their history.

America spreaded its prejudice out among Native Americans, African-American, Irish immigrants, Jewish immigrants, Japanese-Americans and now, the Mexican Americans. Unfortunately, prejudice is a common human trait.

If you want to talk about concentration camps, you can look at how the Japanese-Americans were herded into concentration camps during World War II, right here in the land of the free. Injustice isn't unique to any country or ethnic group. As far as Israel attacking the Gaza strip, it's just a guess, but I'd wager if a neighboring country was lobbing missiles into the United States, we would get angry and fight back ... sort of like when we went to war with Afghanistan.

I wonder if he is aware of the Jewish involvement in the Civil Rights Movement. Jewish leaders were involved in protesting for civil rights for African-Americans. There are good and just people in every ethnic group as well.

And just because I pointed out some of American's bad points, doesn't mean that I don't love America. It means that we as Americans need to hang on to the ideals that our founding fathers placed in the Constitution, and right any wrongs when we see ourselves falling short of those ideas.

I know this will probably go right over Buck Young's prejudiced head, but it needed to be said.
