Brookins-Bibler Seeking Leesburg Town Board Seat

Posted
Amanda Brookins-Bibler, 48, said she’s always been a part of Leesburg.

“I’ve always been involved with things in Leesburg. My husband and I attend most of the Town Board meetings. I’m involved in the Candleria. I’m very interested in what happens with the town council and what the town council is doing and I’ll bring a pair of fresh eyes,” she said in a telephone interview Monday as to why she was interested in serving on the Leesburg Town Board.

The professional guardian and owner of Compassionate Care Guardian Services is the third person who has filed for the Leesburg Town Board seat being vacated by Doug Jones. Jones resigned from the Board, effective Dec. 31, after serving approximately 14 years.

Brookins-Bibler joins Mitch Rader, 64, and Darrin Lincoln, 57, as candidates. Deadline for candidates to file with Kosciusko County Republican Party Central Committee Chair Mike Ragan is 3 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 24. Ragan will appoint a person to fill the Board seat at 3 p.m. Dec. 27 at the county clerk’s office.

Brookins-Bibler said she lives in her childhood home in Leesburg. Her family have been lifelong residents of the town. She did move away in 1996, but moved back in 2015.

Brookins-Bibler said there were great candidates for the Town Board, and they all want to do what’s best for Leesburg.

“It’s a great little town,” she said, but there are a few things that need updated. With her experience, she feels she has a lot of different contacts in different areas that can help Leesburg, and she also would bring a pair of fresh eyes to the Board.

She and her husband have six children between them and two grandchildren.

Eligible applicants for the Town Board must be a resident of the town of Leesburg and a Republican in good standing, according to a previous news release from Ragan. The appointed person will fill the remaining unexpired term of Jones.

Declarations of candidacy and statements of economic interests are available at the Kosciusko County Clerk’s Office, and must be notarized and filed with Ragan no later than 72 hours prior to the appointment (3 p.m. Dec. 24). Ragan’s phone number is 574-265-1430 and email is mragan@sprintmail.com.
