Kosciusko County Sheriff's Office Merit Board voted to promote Det. Brette Stamper to detective sergeant, hire Micah Mansfield as a merit deputy and give Peyton Hendrix a conditional offer for the next merit deputy opening during a meeting on Thursday.
Stamper just celebrated three years as a KCSO detective on Feb. 8.
Hendrix previously worked for the Kosciusko County Jail and recently completed his field training through the jail.
Mansfield and Hendrix are expected to start at the academy in May.
In other business, KCSO Public Information Officer Sgt. Doug Light shared the statistics from 2025.

Work release averaged 63 inmates at a given time, and there was a combined total of 8,038 hours of training for all KCSO employees.
In other business, Kosciusko Community Recovery Program Resource Navigator Shanna Wallen reported that since July 2024, 161 inmates have participated in KCRP. Of these program participants, only 13 have reoffended and returned to jail. Nearly all of the reoffenders are unhoused, and they are looking into ways to alleviate their difficulties returning to society.
Sheriff Jim Smith said, "You're giving them resources and opportunities to do something different than they have always done."
Ten men graduated from Jail Chemical Addiction Program (JCAP) on Friday, Feb. 6. One of these graduates completed three out of five high school equivalency subject tests.
Bradyn Fennell is on week six of police academy training. Fennell was hired during the KCSO Merit Board meeting in December.
