MENTONE – Brett Jay Flenar, 62, of 6180 E. CR 350S, Akron, died at 7:30 a.m. April 21, 2013, in I.U. Health Methodist Hospital, Indianapolis, after being in failing health for two months.
He was born April 23, 1950, in Warsaw, to Robert and Ellen Lee Kesler Flenar. On July 11, 1981, in Rochester, he married Valerie Burns,  who survives.
He most recently worked at Rochester Rotational Molding and formerly worked at Kokomo Chrysler Transmission Plant and Federal-Mogul Corp.
He graduated from Mentone High School in 1968.  He enjoyed camping with family, restoring antique tractors and engines and the outdoors.
Also surviving are two daughters, Sandy Kay Rivera,   Indianapolis, and Jessica Flenar, Kokomo; two sons, Brian (and spouse Kayla) Flenar and Matthew (and spouse Abby) Flenar, all of Rochester; his mother, Ellen Lee Flenar, Mentone; six grandchildren; two sisters, Diane (and spouse Lanny) Idle, South Whitley, and Lynn (and spouse Roger) Bucher, Fort Wayne; and a brother, Dan (and spouse Sherry) Flenar, Columbia City. He was preceded in death by his father, who died March 9, 2011.
Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Thursday at King Memorial Home, 101 N. Tucker St., Mentone, with Billy Steele officiating. Burial will be in Mentone Cemetery.
Calling is from 4 to 8 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home.
