BOW Approves Landfill Dumping Fees, City Hall Canopy Work

BOW Approves Landfill Dumping Fees, City Hall Canopy WorkWarsaw Mayor Joe Thallemer and George Clemens held a short Board of Works meeting Friday.
Street Department Superintendent Dustin Dillon presented a contract with Waste Management for signatures. The document covers landfill dumping fees for the city starting at $33.96 per ton in 2021. With an escalation rate of 2% per year, for four years, the rate will be $36.04 per ton in 2024.
The bid was opened and approved at the July 17 meeting.
Dillon also presented a second user license for GIS Workshop, his department’s sign software. The department now has two employees looking after signage. He said 150 new signs have been installed and another 550 signs have been inspected.
GIS Workshop provides technical support and software maintenance for the department’s SimpleSigns and RoweMap software in the amount of $4,490 for set up costs the first year and $1,080 thereafter.
Senior City Planner Justin Taylor presented a quote from Commercial Builders and Maintenance to remove the two city hall canopies on Buffalo Street and repair the facade and repair the canopy on the west side of City Hall.
Costs are $16,927 to remove the Buffalo Street canopies and $11,531 to repair the west parking lot side canopy.
A Phend and Brown invoice of $345,502.99 for work on CR 300N and Shelden Street roundabout was approved along with a Selge Construction Company payment of $138,070.80 for work on the Buffalo Street Plaza
Wastewater Utility Superintendent Brian Davison presented a pay application of $1,170 for NV Grant Services, which was approved.
Davison said flow was started through the plant Wednesday.
Thallemer noted the latest expansion is the city’s largest utility project ever.
Human Resources Director Jennifer Whitaker presented the wage and hire report: Dustin Dillon, street superintendent, $2,720.10 biweekly; Gage Cutler and Raymond Scott, both hired as airport line technicians, $18 per hour; Warsaw police officers Rogelio Navarro, promotion to corporal, $2,238.28 biweekly,; Sgt. Gordan Allen, shift change, $2,41.66 biweekly; and Sgt. Phillip Hawks, $2,337.32 biweekly, a promotion.
The board approved claims of $3,745,499.18.
A terms of engagement letter was approved with Taft Legal Firm whose lawyers have been contacted to answer a few complicated questions on a recent project.
Thallemer noted the First Friday in September, Sept. 4, will be a cruise-in limited to 80 vehicles.
Jeff Grose was absent. The next Board of Works meeting is Sept. 4. All meetings will begin at 11:15 a.m. through the end of the year.
