Editor, Times-Union: I hear people say, “I would never disrespect the president or say that he is a disgrace to his office.” When I disagree with anyone, I say so. There is only one human that ever lived I will not speak of in a critical way, that’s Jesus. Not one thing I have ever read about his life or the words he spoke do I find fault with. Maybe I’m the sheep? I would rather be his sheep than a past president that had sex in the oval office. That guy makes me sick, he is a pig. The people elected him to serve in our highest office and he spoiled it for every president that will follow him. So when he tells me someone is good for our country, I know it’s time to put my boots on. On another note, I was fortunate enough to be asked to perform a reenactment of the signing of the Constitution of the United States at the Old Jail Museum on Saturday, September 15. I love that kind of thing because not only did I get to work with some very interesting people, I also learned many things. The men that wrote this agreement among the states knew then that the president was an elected human being, not God. Article II section one deals with the president and vice president. They knew then that we might elect a criminal so they wrote in a option to fire him, it’s called impeachment. That tells us that they knew we might have a person that should be removed from that office. It is very dangerous when we look to the person not the office with the greatest respect. It is the office that is all important. The very person that holds that position should know that fact more so than anyone else. When a person gets hired or elected, it is not a badge of honor. It’s a huge responsibility that few people should be given. Right now it is even more apparent that we have a leader that has very little respect for his title. We are being lied to about our current economic situation and even worse the things that are happening in the Middle East. Things are very bad and they are getting worse by the moment here and there. If people want the truth they shouldn't listen to any politician, go to the experts in every field. The economic numbers for our economy and its future forecast with the direction we are being lead is bleak at best. Obama care is getting more expensive by the day, it solves nothing. It’s created a huge amount of stress on small business to a point where they are not willing to grow or expand. There was an article in this paper by Tina Dupuy 06-18-12. She claims that government is not a business. The government runs exactly like a business, it takes in a certain amount of money and preforms services with that money. If they don’t come in on budget they can’t function or pay their bills. One problem with her way of thinking is the government workers that don’t pull their weight still get to keep taking our money. As a columnist she can write her thoughts and feelings no matter how wrong or misguided they may be, but she still gets paid. Unlike the mechanic that screws up a car engine. He can’t do that more than once or twice before he’s stocking shelves at the auto parts store. We have local governments all around this country filing bankruptcy. That is what a business does. They file bankruptcy when they can’t manage the books. All I ask is that everyone look at our country and the divisions we now have, so they can make a decision based on knowledge ... not hope and lies. Michael Alspaugh Warsaw, via e-mail
