Editor, Times-Union: When I glanced at the headline story in Friday’s edition of the Times-Union, it struck me that there was nothing in the story about local black Friday shopping – just about shopping in NYC, complete with color photo. Then when I turned the page, I found a small story with no picture about our local Elks Lodge serving 625 Kosciusko County residents Thanksgiving dinner on Thursday (Thanksgiving Day). They picked up people who could not drive and also delivered some of the meals. Some of my neighbors and friends participated in the endeavor. My own church, St. Anne’s, delivered almost 200 baskets with turkeys and trimmings to families in need last Sunday. I’m glad to know that at least some of our local residents understand what it really means to be thankful and it seems to me that stories such as these would have been a better choice for the headline on the day after Thanksgiving than ones about black Friday shopping in NYC and who got the big TVs without injuring other shoppers. Maybe next year. Pam Nichols Warsaw, via e-mail
