Bicyclist Injured In Tuesday Morning Accident

A bicyclist was injured after an accident with a SUV Tuesday morning.

According to the Warsaw Police Department accident report, at approximately 11:43 a.m. Tuesday, Ruby J. Wilhite, 86, Connors Court, Warsaw, was driving west on Pope Street in a 2016 Buick Encore. She stopped at the stop sign at the intersection of Pope and Detroit streets, Warsaw.

Wilhite said she looked both ways and didn’t see anyone coming from either direction. She said she turned south on South?Detroit Street and, while she was turning, she heard a thud. She realized a bicyclist, Carolyn O. Flores, 62, Anchorage Road, Warsaw, collided with the passenger side of her vehicle.

A witness stated she was driving north on South Detroit Street near the intersection and Flores was southbound on South Detroit Street. The witness said Wilhite was stopped at the stop sign on Pope Street and then turned south on Detroit Street in front of Flores. The witness said Wilhite’s Buick and Flore’s bicycle collided, causing Flores to fall off her bicycle.

Flores complained of pain to her upper left legs. She was transported to a hospital in Fort Wayne.
