NAPPANEE - Betty Lou Lutes, 80, of 26190 U.S. 6W, Nappanee, died at 4:45 a.m. Nov. 22, 2008, in Elkhart General Hospital, after a brief illness.
She was born June 24, 1928, in Nappanee, to Henry S. and Clara S. Stump Weaver. On July 4, 1954, in Nappanee, she married Clifford D. Lutes, who died March 10, 1998.
A lifetime Nappanee resident, she was a member of Nappanee Church of the Brethren and Nappanee American Legion Auxiliary. For many years she was a cook at Hunter's Hideaway, Main Grill and Pip's Tavern, all in Nappanee.
Surviving are four daughters: Debra (and spouse Roger) Briscoe and Patricia Grove, all of Nappanee; Rose (and spouse Orville) Scott, Tomah, Wis.; and Sue (and spouse John) Reaker, Elkhart; a son, Robert Hamilton, Plant City, Fla.; 10 grandchildren; 18 great-grandchildren; and a brother, Charles E. Weaver, Nappanee. She was preceded in death by seven brothers and three sisters.
Services will be at 2 p.m. Tuesday at Nappanee Church of the Brethren. Burial will be in Stony Point Cemetery, Nappanee.
Calling is from 2 to 8 p.m. today at Thompson-Lengacher & Yoder Funeral Home, Nappanee, and one hour prior to the service Tuesday at the church.
