MILFORD – Bertha LaVonne Moneyheffer, 93, Milford, passed away June 18, 2014, at Lakeland Healthcare and Rehabilitation.
She was born Jan. 26, 1921, in Elkhart County, to Orb and Ella Brundage Newcomer. On Oct. 25, 1942, at the Union Center Church, she married Delbert Moneyheffer, who preceded her in death April 7, 2006.
She graduated from New Paris High School in 1939. She was a homemaker and was employed at the Milford School as cafeteria manager for 27 years. She had also worked at Camp Mack for 15 summers and served as a volunteer at Goshen Hospital for 22 years. She and her husband were long-time deacons at the Bethel and Bethany Church of the Brethren, where she is now a member. She was also a member for several years of the Mellowaires singing group, Warsaw.
Surviving are three daughters: Linda (and spouse Henry) Miller and Sharon (and spouse Bob) Muhn, all of Fort Wayne, and Sue Boyer, Milford; 10 grandchildren,18 great-grandchildren and two great-great grandchildren. She was also preceded in death by her parents; a daughter, Jeanne Hunsberger; a great-grandson, Dustin Stephenson; and five brothers.
Services will be from 2 to 3 p.m. Saturday at Bethany Church of the Brethren, New Paris, with Pastor Nelda Risden officiating. Burial will follow in Union Center Cemetery.
Calling will be one hour prior to the service at the church.
