Bernice Rater, 77, of Fort Wayne, died at 9:04 a.m. May 23, 2010, in Parkview Memorial Hospital, Fort Wayne.
She was born Feb. 3, 1933, in Toto, to Harry and Ethel May Carpenter Fisher. On Feb. 5, 1955, she married Robert A. Rater, who preceded her in death.
A lifetime Milford and Warsaw resident, she retired from Maple Leaf Farms Inc.
Surviving are three daughters: Roberta (and spouse Kenneth) Shaw, Milford; Peggy (and spouse Juan) Gallegos, Fort Wayne; and Amanda Nine, Rochester; a son, Doug W. (and spouse Michelle) Rater, Roseburg, Ore.; a sister, Beverly (and spouse Clarence) Dorsch, Illinois; 10 grandchildren; and 27 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by a son.
Services will be at 10 a.m. Thursday at McHatton-Sadler Funeral Chapel, Warsaw, with Pastor Terry Bradford officiating. Burial will be in Oakwood Cemetery, Warsaw.
Calling is from 4 to 8 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home.
