Beacon Credit Union Foundation Awards $7,500 Grant To CCSCombined Community Services (CCS) served an average of 400 families pre-pandemic.

Post-pandemic, CCS is serving nearly 700 families each month.

CCS knew that with the rising need it was essential to seek additional funding streams for 2023, according to a news release from CCS.

Beacon Credit Union Foundation awarded CCS $7,500 to help fight food insecurity in Kosciusko County. The foundation’s mission is to make contribution investments in local, charitable organizations, with a focus on improving the lives of their members, friends and neighbors in the communities in which they serve.

“The Beacon Credit Union foundation is another way we invest in our communities, making them stronger,” said Nola Hudson, Beacon’s Warsaw Member Center manager. “We are thrilled to have the ability to help deserving community outreach programs like the ones at Combined Community Services.”

Dane’s Family Food Pantry averages 700 families served each month, and non-perishable items are hard to keep in stock, the release states. CCS desires to be ones who are “Helping Neighbors Help Neighbors” by bringing the communities’ resources to a single location to assist families in immediate crisis and through long-term case management by giving a “Hand Up, not a Hand Out.”

“We are so thankful to receive this grant from Beacon Credit Union Foundation. Dane’s Family Food pantry is continuing to serve those in need in our community who are facing food insecurities and it’s the support like this from Beacon that makes it possible. Our motto is ‘Neighbors helping Neighbors.’ We are thankful to have Beacon Credit Union as our neighbors in Kosciusko County,” Tim Frame, CCS director of emergency assistance, said.

Dane’s Family Food Pantry’s needs include peanut butter, jelly, cereal, pasta, pasta sauce, macaroni and cheese, pancake mix, syrup, toaster pastries, baking mixes, oatmeal, soups, boxed dinners, rice and canned goods.
