Battery Charges Filed Against Warsaw ManA Warsaw man recently was arrested after police were called to the hospital for a report of child abuse.

Nathaniel James Hollett, 34, of 752 E. CR 300N, Warsaw, was booked in the Kosciusko County Jail at 7:15 p.m. Friday and charged with domestic battery to a person less than 14 years of age by a person at least 18 years of age, a Level 6 felony; and domestic battery, a Class A misdemeanor.

According to the probable cause affidavit filed April 30 in Kosciusko Superior Court II, on Feb. 22 Kosciusko County Sheriff’s Office deputies were dispatched to Kosciusko Community Hospital to take a report of child abuse.

According to court papers, upon arrival police spoke with a woman who said the child had been visiting Hollett’s home when he was struck by Hollett. Police reported observing a cut and bruising on the child’s eye.

When police spoke with the child, according to the affidavit, the child said he and Hollett were playing with BB guns and, at one point, Hollett fell down near the refrigerator inside the house. The child said Hollett thought the child was laughing at him for falling down, so Hollett hit the child twice with his hand, causing injuries to the child’s eye.

Hollett’s bond was set at $5,250.
