Continuously serving Kosciusko County since 1854
Barrus Bookkeeping was celebrated with a ribbon-cutting ceremony hosted by the Kosciusko Chamber of Commerce on Wednesday.
Tony Barrus, owner of Barrus Bookkeeping, manages finances for others, primarily those who work in the trades and trucking.
Barrus owned a construction business for over 20 years. In 2018, he pivoted to bookkeeping. He did all of his own accounting and knows the process inside and out. Barrus is now using his knowledge to help others who may be struggling with balancing practicing their trade with worrying about their finances.
Barrus said about his clients, “I give them a foundation, a good start, and we build from there.”
Barrus lived in Ontario, Canada, for the last 12 years and only recently moved back to Kosciusko County. He primarily conducts his business virtually out of his home, which has allowed him to keep 13 of his pre-existing Canadian clients. He will also meet up with local clients to discuss their business in person.
He said he is always available to his clients and in contact with them throughout the month via text, calls, e-mails, Zoom and apps.
He does his best to stays on top of the latest technology and tools available. He is an Intuit Quickbooks ProAdvisor level Platinum.
Barrus also teaches his clients how to use the latest apps and provides them with a monthly newsletter that includes advice and information. His clients also benefit from networking as he provides links to their websites for his other clients to see on his website.
Barrus said, “(My services) give them more time to be out there doing their job. If I take over the finances, they have more time to dedicate to doing their job.”
