The Barbershop Harmony Society decided to invite women to join the formerly all-male singing organization.
The Chain-O-Lakes Barbershop chorus, a 17-member chorus of the larger society, recently made the same decision. They are not only looking for male singers, but also female singers, who would be interested in singing in the barbershop style.
If anyone enjoys singing and at one time sang with a Sweet Adeline group, or sang in a church choir, or perhaps another group, you are invited.
On Oct. 17, they will host “Delicious Harmonies and Heavenly Desserts” night at the Woodlands Senior Center, 710 N. Opportunity Drive, Columbia City. Beginning at 6:45 p.m., they will have some demonstrations of barbershop singing and get our guests involved in singing some four-part harmonies, before closing the evening with some desserts from 8:15 to 8:45 p.m.
