Barbara Susan Sahagún, 59, of Plymouth, passed away at 1:35 p.m. Jan. 13, 2012, in Memorial Hospital, South Bend.
She was born Sept. 16, 1952, in Wabash, to Mario A. and Dorothy Haavig Sahagún.
A former Warsaw resident, she worked at Cardinal Center, Warsaw, Marshall Stark Workshop, Plymouth, and Manitou Center Sheltered Workshop, Rochester. She attended Madison Elementary School, Warsaw, and the School for the Blind, Indianapolis. She was a participant and award winner in the Kosciusko County Special Olympics. She loved going to movies, listening to “oldies” music, building things with her Legos, garage sales and camping with her mom and dad.
Surviving are her mother, Dorothy Sahagún, Bourbon; three sisters: Marion Ebersole, Bremen; Nancy (and spouse Carlos) Saldino, Chicago, Ill.; and Teresa (and spouse Jim) Gill, Warsaw; a brother, Kenneth (and spouse Theresa) Sahagún, Syracuse; 12 nieces and nephews; 13 great-nieces and -nephews; and her beloved caregivers and roommates. She was preceded in death by her father.
Services will be at 1 p.m. Wednesday at McHatton-Sadler Funeral Chapel, 2290 Provident Court, Warsaw, with Fathers Phil DeVolder and Bob Lingerich officiating. Burial will be in Oakwood Cemetery, Warsaw.
Calling is two hours prior to the service Wednesday at the funeral home.
