Barbara J. Plotner Hedington, 92, passed away peacefully in the love of family on Wednesday, Sept. 2, 2026, at Grace Village Retirement Community, Winona Lake.
A lifetime Warsaw resident, Barbara was born on April 25, 1934, to Wesley and Edna Neer Plotner. She graduated from Warsaw High School. On May 27, 1955, in Warsaw, Barbara wed Robert E. Hedington. He would pass away in 2004.
Starting in her teenage years, Barbara worked for Humpty Dumpty, as a cook for Washington Elementary and at Grace Manufacturing. She lastly worked for Uniroyal-Royalite before her retirement.
Barbara was a member of Dutchtown Brethren Church. She enjoyed motorcycle rides with her husband, traveling all over the U.S. The couple later bought a motor home to travel and would winter in Broadus, Texas.
She is survived by her children, Bart L. (Margie) Hedington and Tina S. (Jon) Goon, both of Warsaw; five grandchildren: Joel (Stacie) Goon, Scot (Misty) Goon, Brad (Michelle) Goon, Jeremy (Grace) Hedington and Gail (Travis) Roberts; and 11 great-grandchildren: Logan, Ariel, Bailey, Addison, Carmen, Devan and Reinira Goon, Nora and Elsie Roberts, and Timothy and Annabelle Hedington; as well as sisters-in-law, Betty Hedington and Martha Roberts.
Barbara was preceded in death by her husband, parents and six siblings.
Visitation will be held on Tuesday, Sept. 15 from 10 a.m. to noon at McHatton-Sadler Funeral Chapels, 2290 Provident Court, Warsaw. Funeral services will follow at 12 noon with Pastor Sam Yeiter officiating. Burial will be in Oakwood Cemetery, Warsaw.
